Are You Looking for a Rehab Program?

The desire to seek treatment for substance abuse disorders is the first and most important step to recovery. Mental disorders are similar to physical ailments in that they are not indicators of weakness or shame. At Emerald Isle Health & Recovery, we provide treatment in a safe and nurturing environment.

Things you Should Contemplate Before Choosing a Rehab Facility

My Specific Requirements

The first thing to contemplate is the type of treatment program will best fit your specific requirements. You will need to choose one of two treatment options: inpatient or outpatient. Though they are not mutually exclusive – as inpatient treatment often transitions into Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) or Partial Hospitalization (PHP) – choosing the right option for initial treatment is vital to the client’s recovery.

One advantage of an inpatient program is that it provides treatment in a secure and structured setting. You will find that most inpatient programs have care available onsite 24/7. Another advantage of inpatient treatment is that it allows you to be separated from the people who may have contributed to your substance use. You will not have any of those people try to influence you in some way. This will help you to concentrate more fully on your recovery. A disadvantage is that inpatient programs will require you to stay at the facility for a certain amount of time. Another disadvantage is that you may get the feeling that you are cut off from your loved ones.

An advantage of an outpatient program is that it provides a way for you to stay at home while being treated. This is an advantage because most people are more comfortable at home. The disadvantage is that you may encounter those who can impede your recovery.

What Specialized Care is Available?

The second thing you should contemplate is whether a facility offers specialized care. Specialized care programs include, but are not limited to:

Will my Health Insurance Pay for This Facility?

If you have Beacon Health Options insurance, you may wish to contact them to find out exactly what they cover and what they do not. There are a couple of ways you can contact them. The first is through the customer service number on your ID card.  The actual level of coverage and care are dependent on your individual policy.

Beacon Health Options specializes in the management of behavioral health and substance use disorders. There is an array of approved Beacon rehab centers around the country. Beacon Health Options offers 24/7 service to both its clients and its providers. Beacon Health Options sells a variety of mental health insurance plans, with some plans focusing primarily on care for substance abuse disorders. In addition, many other insurance companies partner with Beacon Health Options to provide coverage for mental health treatment. Aetna and Humana are two examples of companies that supplement their plans with Beacon Health Options coverage.

Customers of Beacon Health Options can easily find their approved treatment centers online by searching for Beacon rehab centers. If you are a Beacon Health Options customer, they want to assist you in recovering from substance use issues. Their polices have options for both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. Most Beacon Health Options insurance plans will require the client to cover co-pays and deductibles when checking into an in-network facility. Because of their focus on mental health disorders, Beacon Health Options provides coverage for inpatient therapy, outpatient therapy, and aftercare therapy such as community meetings and “alumni” programs. They also cover other services that can help you with long-term recovery. Some of those services they cover may include:

  • Medical exams and treatment
  • Assessment and screening
  • Detoxification process
  • Medications for treatment of substance use
  • Mental health evaluation and therapies
  • Partial hospitalization
  • Intensive outpatient care
  • Outpatient treatment

Beacon Health Options does not have a set amount of time that they will cover inpatient therapy. Factors which determine the length of a covered stay include the client’s insurance plan, the severity of the client’s substance abuse disorder, the substance associated with the disorder, and the client’s responsibilities and obligations.

Many Beacon Health Options insurance plans will cover at least some costs associated with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Beacon Health Options’ focus on mental health disorders cause it to view MAT as a valuable component to manage the withdrawal symptoms associated with detoxification as well as the physical and mental cravings for the harmful substance. Beacon Health Options clients are advised to check their plan’s prescription drug coverage to determine the out-of-pocket costs – if any – associated with MAT.

When searching for Beacon rehab centers, you will need to keep in mind that Beacon normally requires treatment be done at an in-network facility. Since Beacon Health Options has a network of over 100,000 behavioral health professionals and facilities, locating an in-network provider should not be a significant challenge. And when an external insurance company offers mental health coverage through Beacon Health Option plans, the external insurance company’s network often qualifies for full benefits as well.

If you choose an out-of-network facility, Beacon Health Options will often require the client to pay all costs incurred by the out-of-network providers. Beacon Health Options will, however, make exceptions when the client is in an emergency situation or when the client is treated by an out-of-network provider without the client’s knowledge. It is best to call to verify your exact coverage before you begin any treatment program. In addition, most behavioral health providers will have in-house insurance and financial specialists. Even though an in-house specialist will not be as knowledgeable about Beacon Health Options coverage as Beacon Health Options employees themselves, the in-house specialists can answer a variety of questions, establish payment plans, and offer suggestions to lower clients’ costs.

What Type of Recovery Support Does the Facility Offer?

Something else to contemplate is exactly how the rehab facility will support your recovery process. The industry standard treatment protocol calls for 28 days. Note that there is no hard-set rule to determine the length of a client’s stay. Multiple factors – including the severity of the client’s symptoms, the root causes of the substance abuse disorder, and the client’s obligations and responsibilities – will determine the length of treatment.

What Approach to Treatment is Used by This Facility?

What Approach to Treatment is Used by This Facility

Something else you should contemplate is the treatment approach a facility employs. There is an array of evidence-based approaches that a rehab facility might use, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Therapy based on medical nutrition
  • Motivational interviews
  • Treatments that seek safety
  • Treatment to heal emotional trauma
